Beta-Adrenergic receptor modulation of adipocyte metabolism and growth
نویسنده
چکیده
β-Adrenergic receptor (βAR) agonists reduce body fat in mammals and birds. Synthetic lipid metabolism is decreased in βAR agonist-treated animals or in agonist-treated adipocytes in vitro. Degradative lipid metabolism is increased by βAR agonists in adipocytes in vitro and in vivo. The βAR agonist effects are blocked by βAR antagonists. In mammalian tissues, there are at least three distinct βAR subtypes; β-1 (β1AR), β-2 (β2AR), and β-3 (β3AR). Individual tissues have different proportions of subtypes. For example, greater than 85% of the βAR in rat heart is β1AR, in guinea pig lung is β2AR, and in rat adipose tissue is β3AR. Subtype distribution within a tissue varies with species (e.g., human heart has 65% β1AR and porcine adipocytes have less than 10% β3AR). There is species variation in the amino acid sequence of a βAR subtype. Thus, it is expected that some βAR agonists would have different effects in the same tissue in different species because of different βAR subtype distribution and(or) amino acid sequence. In support of these concepts, the

Effects of three beta adrenergic receptor agonists on growth performance, blood biochemical parameters, fatty acids composition and carnitine palmitoyltransferase I gene expression of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss
Different beta 1 and 2 adrenergic receptor agonists may be various biological and physiological effects on fish species. An experiment was designed to study the effects of feeding ractopamine, terbutaline and metaproterenol; as beta1, beta2 and less selective beta 2 adrenergic receptor agonists, respectively; on body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, concentration of biochemical parameters in...

متن کاملDirect control of peripheral lipid deposition by CNS GLP-1 receptor signaling is mediated by the sympathetic nervous system and blunted in diet-induced obesity.
We investigated a possible role of the central glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) receptor system as an essential brain circuit regulating adiposity through effects on nutrient partitioning and lipid metabolism independent from feeding behavior. Both lean and diet-induced obesity mice were used for our experiments. GLP-1 (7-36) amide was infused in the brain for 2 or 7 d. The expression of key enzym...
متن کاملThe Role of Adrenergic Receptors on Neural Excitability and Synaptic Plasticity: A Narrative Review
Adrenergic receptors have an important role in neural excitability and synaptic plasticity. Despite a lot of studies on these receptors, their exact role in brain disorders accompanied with hyperexcitability has not been determined. There are also controversies on their role in synaptic plasticity. In this review article, the important studies done in this regard have been reviewed to achieve a...

To elucidate the role of norepinephrine (NE) in the hyperplasia of brown adipose tissue (BAT), we investigated the effects of NE on the expression of fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) in rat brown adipocyte primary culture and on capillary growth in an in vitro angiogenesis model in which microvascular fragments and brown adipocyte precursor cells isolated from rat BAT were grown in coculture....
